Speech Pathologist
Dominik Prgomet is an experienced and caring speech pathologist who is enthusiastic about helping adults with swallowing and communication difficulties. He has a clinical interest in neurological disorders and works closely with Dr Ronald Siu and the team at Toowoomba Neurology. He is also well-versed in acute and critical care speech pathology.
Dominik graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) in 2017 and is a certified practicing member of Speech Pathology Australia. He spent time at Cairns Hospital and Dalby Hospital before moving to Toowoomba Hospital in 2020. He worked in senior clinical roles at Toowoomba Hospital and Warwick Hospital before making a full transition to private practice in June this year.
Dominik is committed to individualised, holistic care and works collaboratively with doctors, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to maximise patients’ outcomes and quality of life. He is happy to accept referrals for a broad range of adult swallowing and communication difficulties. These include:
- Swallowing disorders (oropharyngeal “high” dysphagia)
- Motor speech disorders (dysarthria, dyspraxia)
- Language disorders (aphasia, cognitive-communication impairment)
- Voice/laryngeal disorders (dysphonia, paradoxical vocal cord dysfunction, chronic cough)
- Globus sensation
- Tracheostomy cuff deflations and speaking valve trials
- Age-related changes in communication and swallowing
Dominik offers private practice consultations at Toowoomba Neurology, located onsite at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital (Suite 55). He also sees inpatients at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital and St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba.
Dominik enjoys teaching and supervision. He continues to provide clinical education to speech pathology students from various Queensland universities including his alma mater. He also provides supervision and mentorship to practising speech pathologists.
