Providing life-saving emergency cardiac services including fast diagnostic procedures, stents for blocked arteries and insertion of cardiac devices.

St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital is pleased to advise that it has opened the doors to the region’s first Rapid Access Heart Centre, providing the Darling Downs community with a new 24/7 Emergency Cardiac Centre.

The Rapid Access Heart Centre provides the local community with emergency care, along with access to the only dedicated Cardiac Catheter Laboratory in the region.  Patients who are experiencing chest pain, tightness, palpitations, pressure or shortness of breath can present to the Rapid Access Heart Centre via Queensland Ambulance Service or as a walk-in self referral.

No referral is required to access the Rapid Access Heart Centre, $180 Facility Fee refunded if admitted to St Andrew’s (fee excludes diagnostic and pathology services).

The new service is delivered in partnership with the team of onsite Medical Officers and Interventional Cardiologists, with General Medical and Surgical resources also available if required.  The Rapid Access Heart Centre is supported by St Andrew’s existing 24-hour Intensive Care Unit, a Cardiac Medical Unit and dedicated Cardiac Catheter Laboratory.
