Women in the Toowoomba and Darling Downs region suffering from debilitating gynaecology problems have embraced the new, less invasive surgery now offered at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital.  The first gynaecology robotic assisted surgery for six local patients was performed at the Hospital on the weekend.

Local Toowoomba Gynaecologist who performed the surgery Dr Brendan Miller, has been specially trained in the USA, Korea and Sydney in preparation for the procedures.

The benefits for patients in using this technology includes less pain, faster recovery, reduced scarring and less risk of infection. Typically a patient who has undergone a gynaecology procedure using robotic assisted surgery can expect a shorter hospital stay, faster return to normal daily activities and less risk of complications.

The equipment now available at St Andrew’s can be used for a wide variety of gynaecological conditions including endometriosis and for hysterectomies.
